An
odyssey across lost civilizations:
the renaissance of 7 mythic monuments
“I have set eyes on the wall of lofty Babylon on which
is a road for chariots, and the statue of Zeus by the Alpheus,
and the hanging gardens, and the Colossus of the Sun, and
the huge labour of the high pyramids, and the vast tomb of
Mausolus; but when I saw the house of Artemis that mounted
to the clouds, those other marvels lost their brilliancy…”.
Antipater of Sidon (140 B.C).
140
B.C. Between the pressure of the growing Roman Empire and
the fall of Hellenistic kingdoms, will the old civilizations
survive ? Will their wonderful monuments disappear?
From the pyramids of Egypt to the Lighthouse
of Alexandria and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, we follow
the odyssey of Antipater of Sidon to discover his famous
list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Between fascination
and dangers, the odyssey through Africa, Middle East and
Europe reveals the monuments that have changed the history
of architecture. Many books, paints, or movies have offered
images of the Wonders in backgrounds of scenes of fiction.
How many just approached the true?
In 7 steps, the Wonders return to life
in a docudrama for an international and educational audience.
The project wants to be a reference on Antiquity by providing
a wide panorama on the period. A lost heritage that is reborn
with archeology and technology: a mix of real shootings in
the landscapes of Africa, Asia and Europe, a strong fictional
adventure and spectacular HD GCI reconstructions of the monuments.
Both historical and technical aspects are a challenge to
film and composite this realistic 3D film. An exciting project
to produce that already interest partners in Europe and Mediterranean
area.
